Wanna Check out “What’s in the Bible?”

Okay - I'm sitting in a hotel room in very chilly Southern California getting ready to speak at a children's ministry conference in a few hours, but I wanted to get you this news as soon as possible.
First, the release date for the first two DVDs in our new series has been moved up to March 1st, so America will get to meet a whole new way to teach the Bible to kids even sooner!
Second, the preview website for "What's in the Bible?" is now up, so you can go watch a little preview trailer hosted by yours truly. Click here for the new site, and pass the link around to your friends.
Finally, I mentioned before that I'd like to get some sample DVDs into your hands ahead of the release, and we're ready to do that now. We've got 50 DVDs that we're going to send out to the first 50 people who request them. Here's the deal: If we send you a DVD, you A) need to watch it, B) need to share it with your friends or pass it around your church or blog about it or, preferably, all of the above. As I've mentioned before, are marketing budget is not huge, and foot traffic in Christian bookstores is way down from the heyday of VeggieTales a decade ago. So we need your help!

Phil, I was at the Power Up conference on Saturday, and I cannot tell you how much I enjoyed hearing you. Your story is so powerful, and I have already shared it with so many others. I cannot wait for this new series. Your focus on teaching the Word of God in a way that will bring families together is so inspiring. So much of this generation is becoming Biblically illiterate, and the danger is that they will not be able to give a defense for their faith. As you know, doubt begins to creep in, followed by abandonment of their faith altogether. I applaud you for acting on your conviction. I will keep you and this endeavor in my prayers (and on my blog too!)

I was at the kids conference and you were amazing and inspiring. I am the Children’s Director at a church and everything you shared is what God has been putting on my heart over the last two years. We were blessed enough to be a beta test church for a new curriculum that is doing a lot of what you shared and your new dvds are going to be icing on the cake. Can’t wait to see the curriculum you guys are writing to go along with the dvds. We are really encouraging our families to do family nights where they learn the more about the bible together and your dvds will meet so many families needs that feel overwhelmed and don’t know where to start.
So thankful for being faithful to God. Thank you for being humble and sharing your journey with all of us. Would love to get a dvd of you sharing your story. So many people need to hear it.

Just turned 34. My 4 kids bought me “What’s In The Bible?” Vol. 1 for my birthday. We enjoyed it so much that I snuck out to the local Christian bookstore and bought Vol. 2. The humor is quick enough to keep adult attention, while the songs and puppets kept my kids in awe. My wife is wondering how all of us managed to memorize all those lines after only one viewing, but as Tony Shaloub says, “It’s a gift…and a curse.” I recommend them to anyone with kids. Or who likes puppets. Although certain voices are disappointingly familiar (most noticeably the voices of Mr. Nezzer and Jimmy Gourd as Buck Denver & Chester), the general production and back-and-forth dialogue is quick and mostly original, with Michael (a kid strapped into his carseat & being forced to watch the videos) stealing the best comedic lines. The two TV-watching old ladies should already be nicknamed named “Mrs. Waldorf” and “Mrs. Statler - the only thing missing is a balcony seat. Good stuff, Phil.
