WITB sightings in the “wild”
February 22, 2010
Well, some of you may have been surprised walking into your local Christian bookstores over the last week to see Buck Denver's big face on a display full of brand new "What's in the Bible?" DVDs. It seems the first batch of manufactured copies was sent out to stores more than a week ago, and most stores just started setting them out and selling them. So that thing I said about "Coming March 1!" is now only partly true, since most Christian bookstores are apparently selling them right NOW, as we speak!
So… if there is a Christian bookstore in your area, swing by and ask for "What's in the Bible?" They may be out in front in a nice display, or they may be still in the back room in a box waiting to get set up. (My dad stopped into a bookstore in Toledo, OH and asked the manager to check in the back room, and sure enough, the box had just arrived! So he got the first two copies sold in the fine city of Toledo!)
If you don't have a Christian bookstore nearby, check ChristianBook.com. It's time to start teaching our kids the Bible in a completely new way! (And don't miss the outtakes on the "Bonus Features" menu. They're my kids' favorite part of the new DVDs.)
Okay - I have to go record next weeks "Buck's Mail Bag" for JellyTelly, then it's back to working on WITB #3! Onward and upward!

WOW!
I had no idea that Christian stores would jump the gun like that.
I guess they must be excited to have something brand new “from the man who made Veggie Tales.”
Good luck, Mr. Vischer, and I pray that this project will be blessed by God from the first day of sales to the last DVD release.

Can’t wait to get my hands on a copy!
Funny thing- I have my own DVD coming out in March, and I’m more excited about “What’s In The Bible?”
Best wishes on your writing endeavor!

I picked up the first two episodes on Friday. My three year old loved them. He said he was going to pack them and take them on his next trip to grandma’s house. Video production is my hobby, and I think the production values on the DVD’s are fantastic. Top notch. I’m a children’s pastor, and I think the videos would form a great basis for curriculum. Any plans to turn them into weekly curriculum?

I bought volumes 1 and 2. I knew that anything put out by Phil would not only be educational but also very fun. I was right. I showed my Kindergarten class Volume 1; part 1 yesterday and we are watching Part 2 today. The kids give you many “two-thumbs up.” Great Job, Phil. May God continue to bless you with this endeavor! We look forward to more!

Do you know if the Christian stores in Australia are going to sell What’s in the Bible?

I went to my local christian book stone and asked about “What’s in the bible”. They didn’t know what I was talking until they spoke to the manager. It turned out they had 12 copies - I am now home and watching disks 1 and 2 for the second time with my son.
Lot’s of fun. Hopefully they take them out of the box and get them in front of people.

My girls love the DVDs, but I was wondering if there might be a CD of songs that we could buy? I see them mouthing the words as the characters are singing, and I would love to be able to have a whole album for them to listen to when we are traveling. Is that a possiblity anytime soon?

My girls are so excited about these. At the Christian book store in Strongsville, OH it was out about 2 weeks ago. Had 2 different movies in a display box.

Had not gone on your website in a while, I was so happy to hear about this new project….called my local Christian Bookstore and they had Volumes 1 and 2. I knew that my girls, ages three and five, would love anything you put out, so I bought both of them and we are watching them right now! Thank you so much for this!!!

Phil,
Picked them up yesterday. I am planning on taking my family (kids are 12, 7, 5 and 0 - but the eldest is plenty immature for your stuff, and the 0 is just a bit too refined, but we’ll make it work) through one episode every other Friday night - hopefully to last us until the next discs. If any weird questions or a family guide come out of it, I’ll send them along to you.

As a pastor and Bible teacher, my mantra has always been “the Bible fits together as a whole”! Phil, thanks so much for agreeing with me and for another fantastic tool I can use in my ministry with both kids and adults! As a puppeter, I love the new charatcers! And, I see myself as Sunday School Lady in 25 years - blue haired, sassy yet dedicated to teaching Sunday School (and kids church) and talking to a magic flannelgraph board!

WITB is a winner! This morning my 6 year old wanted to watch Jonah (his favoriete movie). I suggested WITB, disc one. He loves it!

I found them in Lifeway two weeks ago. The Lifeway staff didn’t know what they were when I asked if they had them in the store.

Picked up my copies today and two minutes in, my boys have already said “This is fun.” Thanks for another way to feed them spiritually.

Yep, we got them. Watched them. Love them. However long it may be….. it’s going to be a looonng wait for WITB #3. Is it wrong to almost have WITB #1 and 2 memorized already? My 4 yr old can’t get enough of the Kindness Duck bonus. Thank you much and jelly-on!

I’m 16 years old and i grew up with veggie tales, so when I heard about this new project I got really excited and ordered both dvds. I watched them this weekend and I love them! I plan to show them to my Christian Club at my high school, theres a lot of stuff they could learn from these!
Can’t wait for more to come!

Just saw Buck Denver’s familiar face in the book store at church (Willow Creek in South Barrington). Great to see your work on the shelf!
